INTRODUCTION TO INTERROGATION

An Adaptation by Alexandra Devon
Based on "The Interrogation", a story by Colin Pip Dixon

An Interrogator grills the witnessess, but is it his own soul that’s on trial?

This intense one-act play is based on the unusual Kafkaish story, “The Interrogation”, by Colin Pip Dixon. An important prisoner has suddenly disappeared from his prison cell. Three guards were on duty, no clues, no evidence, of how it happened. Now is the final interrogation and the struggle between power and one's own conscience; between reason, logic and that which can not be seen.

CAST OF CHARACTERS INVOLVED IN THE SCENES
(In order of speaking)

JACEK, the Interrogator, in his 50s, is of medium height and has a thickness in his face and body, but he also possesses inner power.

MILEK, a tall and attractive, deeply sincere man with warm  eyes, is in his 30s.

JASHA, late 30s to early 40s, is  short and chubby and wears round glasses. In his
enthusiastic  desire  to  please, he is almost comedic at times.

JOZEF is a man of quiet authority in his 50s, who has an intelligent, thoughtful face.
